After completion of the study Medicine at the University of Nijmegen, she trained as an internist at the Máxima Medical Center in Veldhoven and the UMC St Radboud in Nijmegen. Since September 1, 2006 she has been working at the Maastricht University Medical Centre (MUMC +) as a staff member of the Medical Oncology. Since 2009 she has been acting head of this department. The mission of the Medical Oncology is to establish a center of excellence in patient care, thereby carrying out innovative research.
Her focus area includes the treatment of urological tumors (kidney, bladder, prostate and testicular cancer), in addition to skin cancer (including melanoma). She is also head of the Phase I Oncology unit where research into new drug therapy of cancer. In addition to pre-clinical and early clinical studies it has also teaching duties.
It has several additional features, including a member WIN-R (Workgroup Immunotherapy Netherlands - Oncology) for kidney cancer and melanoma, a member of several advisory boards and board IKL-urological tumors.
