Dr. Iryna Samarska, MD PhD

In 2002 heeft Iryna Samarska de opleiding Geneeskunde afgerond aan de Nationale Medische Universiteit in Kiev, Oekraïne. In Kiev heeft ze ook haar eerste promotieonderzoek gedaan naar de farmacologische  behandeling van aandrang-incontinentie. Na de verdediging van het proefschrift deed ze haar tweede promotieonderzoek op de afdeling farmacologie van de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen. Het tweede promotieonderzoek ging over een post-operatieve vasculaire reactiviteit en daaraan gerelateerde nieraandoening. In 2012 heeft ze  de assessmentprocedure van niet-Europese medische artsen succesvol afgerond. Gedurende die periode werkte ze ook als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij de afdeling anesthesiologie, Rijksuniversiteit Groningen.

In 2013 startte zij met de opleiding tot patholoog bij de afdeling pathologie in het MUMC+. In 2015-2016 liep ze perifere stage bij Prof. Dr. De Bruїne, Dr. Van Marion en Dr. Wouda (Viecuri, Venlo). In 2018 deed ze een 1 jaar durende verdiepingsstage in urogenitale pathologie en een wetenschappelijke stage bij Prof. Dr. J. Epstein, op de afdeling pathologie, John Hopkins Universiteit (Baltimore, Verenigde Staten). Ze volgde een dagelijks intercollegiaal overleg (surgical pathology) en een intercollegiaal overleg (gastrointestinale pathologie).

In 2002, Iryna Samarska completed her training in Medicine at the National Medical University in Kyiv, Ukraine. In Kyiv, she also conducted her first PhD on the pharmacological treatment of urge incontinence. After defending the thesis, she did her second PhD at the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Groningen. The second PhD project was on post-operative vascular reactivity and related renal disease. In 2012, she successfully completed the assessment procedure of non-European medical doctors. During that period, she also worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Anesthesiology, University of Groningen.

In 2013, she started training as a pathology resident in the department of MUMC+. In 2015-2016 she also did an internship with Prof. Dr. De Bruїne, Dr. Van Marion and Dr. Wouda (Viecuri, Venlo). In 2018, she did a 1-year fellowship in urogenital pathology and a scientific internship with Prof. Dr. J. Epstein, in the pathology department, at John Hopkins University (Baltimore, USA). She attended daily peer review (surgical pathology) and peer review (gastrointestinal pathology) conferences.
